“Is it not written: My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations?” Mark 11:17
Prayer is a huge part of what Community is all about…
The Purpose of the Prayer Ministry:
The prayer ministry of Community Church was formed to help complete the fourth dimension of God’s guidelines for how His church was to be organized. In Acts 2:42, Paul points out that in the New Testament church, the believers “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
Community Church’s prayer ministry exists to help this body of believers to become devoted to prayer. We fulfill this purpose through quarterly teachings, practicing prayer when together in groups throughout the church, promoting the discipline of prayer whenever needs arise, and by applying the tenets of prayer via a worship prayer team which prays for the body before services, an emergency prayer team which receives and prays for requests 24/7, and an elder ministry which prays for and anoints those who are sick. We also are focused on helping the body as a whole to become more focused on being a “house of prayer of all nations” by including monthly corporate prayer needs in the program each week.
Congregational Prayer: As a New Testament church, it is important that we are obedient to God’s Word:
Acts 2:42-47 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (NIV)
